RAWR - Halloween 2012

Hey guys! I got a hold of some pics from Halloween that my uncle took. I felt so crappy for most of October, but thankfully I felt up to venturing out on Halloween.

If you couldn't guess from my Halloween nails, I dressed up as Catwoman, inspired by Eartha Kitt's costume from the 1960's Batman. Yea, I spent a lot of time in bed watching TV and I caught an episode of it and really liked her costume, more than some of the more modern Catwomans.

Yea I know she didn't have a tail, but my ears came with a tail and I wanted to use it. :]

I had fun with makeup and falsies too.
I used:
Prestige Liquid Eyeliner - Popstar
Prestige Liquid Eyeliner - Fame
M.A.C - Retrospeck Eyeshadow
M.A.C - Blacktrack Fluidline
Jesse's Girl - Starshine Eye Dust
Salon Perfect Perfectly Diva Lashes - Enchanting (fitting name right?)

For my lips:
Wet N' Wild MegaLast Lipstick - Think Pink
Wet N' Wild MegaLast Lipstick - Dollhouse Pink
Love & Beauty Shine Lipgloss - Light Pink (there's no name on it lol)

As for my plans that night? My cousin got back in town so her and my other cousin and I just walked around the neighborhood. We went trick or treating at a few houses cause we wanted to send the candy back to her brother and sisters but overall we didn't get much candy haha.

Tonight We Are Young Part 2

My cousin and I turned our other cousin's room into our own lash bar before we performed together. My cousin is, as she puts it, "not a girl" ! She's never worn fake lashes before, and as for me, well I've only ever worn crazy Halloween ones. She's interested in them so I picked some up for us. This was the first time I've ever applied a pair on anyone. It was fun! The majority of my friends have always been guys, so we don't spend a lot of time applying lashes on each other haha.
We're not experts and well, we probably shouldn't have taken pics at the end of the night, after waiting to eat till after we performed and then jumping on the leftovers!

So here's my cousin. She did her makeup with an e.l.f. palette and her lashes are Revlon Beyond Natural - Double Wink. She wanted crazy ones and these were the craziest they had at the store. I think they look like feather lashes. Or something Katy Perry would wear.

As for me, I went with something toned down.

Eyes:
M.A.C - Retrospeck eyeshadow (as a wash over the lid and under the brows)
Wet N' Wild Vanity palette (the gold and some of the brown, in crease)
M.A.C - Blacktrack Fluidline
Wet N' Wild Mega Lash Clinical Mascara - Very Black
Revlon Fantasy Lengths - Flirty

Lips:
Wet N' Wild Silk Finish Lipstick - 516C Sunset Peach
M.A.C - Girl About Town
Love And Beauty Lipgloss - Cherry

Something about that pic reminded us to Nicki Minaj. We don't know why either. We had video of our performance but it turned out too dark, which is too bad, because we definitely rocked it like true Barbz that night!

& just because no post is complete without an action pic:

Happy Hunger Games! Part 2.

Here's my FOTD and OOTD. I used to have a black skirt that had flames on it but I couldn't find it. I think it got donated. This would've been the perfect occasion to wear it, right? I pulled this red patchwork skirt out since it went along with the colors I wanted to use for my eye makeup. The necklace, from Love Culture, complimented it since it has a big silver arrow on it. Hunger Games fans will get that reference.

Outside the theater, it was so windy!

For my eyeshadow, I knew I wanted to do flame colors but not like INYOURFACEBRIGHT! colors, so I went with a black smoky eye and did the flame colors in the crease.

With flash the sparkles lit up!

I knew I wanted to use a gold eyeliner as a nod to Cinna. I love Cinna. So I busted out my Milani gold eyeliner. It wouldn't have looked as good over the black on my top lid so I used it on my lower lid.

I used:
M.A.C Blacktrack Fluidline as base & liner
M.A.C Carbon eyeshadow
M.A.C Fab & Flashy eyeshadow
Bloody Mary Red eyeshadow
M.A.C Retrospeck eyeshadow
Milani Gold Liquif'eye 03 Gold eyeliner
Hard Candy Carbon Black Ginormous Lash Mascara

Oh and about that Hunger Games rap? HERE IT IS! Come for the punchlines, stay for the Peeta meme at the end!

Wet N Wild Color Icon Palette - Vanity

FIRST REVIEW! I picked this up after reading good things about it online and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed.

WHAT YOU GET: 6 shades, 3 matte, 3 shimmer, and each group containing a good lid, crease, and highlight color. Of course you can mix and match, that's part of the fun.

I was in need of some neutral eyeshadows. I think I have almost every color of the rainbow but very few neutrals. Enter the Wet N' Wild Color Icon Vanity palette, which filled that gap in one swift motion. Oh and at a fraction of what my other eyeshadows cost.

THE GOOD:

THESE SHADOWS ARE PIGMENTED! That was surprising. Of course I buy products hoping that the quality will be good but you never know. Drugstore products sometimes have a bad rep for being sheer, and I've even bought high end stuff that were let-downs. Not these though.

THEY STAY. I didn't use a base or primer the first time I used them and when I got home I didn't notice any creasing. And usually eyeshadows crease on me.

THE PRICE. These are priced at $4.99. A lot of places have discounts or sales. I picked mine up at Rite Aid for $3.99. At that price, you really can't go wrong.

THE NOT-SO-GOOD:

BE CAREFUL! These are soft, which isn't actually a bad thing, but don't go digging your brush too hard and be careful to not get fall out in the other colors. I didn't have any fall out on my face but I did spill a bit in the surrounding shades.

That's it, I like everything else about this product. Maybe the price DID make me feel like I over-paid for other stuff in my collection, but I can't list that.

OVERALL: I have to say I love every shade. I lean towards the matte crease shade, a rich chocolate brown, quite a bit. But I have to admit the medium lid shade on the shimmer side is absolutely gorgeous. It's a velvety golden honey shade that goes on like butter. I feel like I gotta add "LIKE BUTTAH" simply for emphasis.

Now I did say that my neutral collection was a bit lacking so I don't own many other shades to compare, but two that I do own are M.A.C.'s Retrospeck and Mulch. The light and dark shimmer shades in this palette make pretty good dupes for them.

This little palette is low on cost but packs a punch and I'm glad I was able to round out my collection with it. I'm already thinking it would make a nice present, especially for girls who are new to makeup. These are all wearable, everyday shades that would please everyone. Plus the pigmentation and texture make it easy to work with. It's a nice change to see matte shades at the drugstore, too.

IN A NUTSHELL: For the price, this is a steal. $4.99 for a single good eyeshadow is a great deal, but for 6? That's just plain crazy. Everybody needs neutrals in their collection. If you're looking for a good selection of neutral shades, this is your one stop ticket.
