Kiss Me, I'm Irish

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today I've got the most colorful #OOTD I've posted in a long time, along with this year's St. Paddy's day nails.

This entire outfit is Fashion Q. The boots were a Christmas gift and I'm still so happy with them, even though they blend in with my black jeans.

Of course my nails had to get in on the festivities. I mentioned how I've been using the same green polishes for years now. This year I found the newest Pure Ice display and I was so excited to actually find it. I see so many people posting that their Walmarts don't stock the new collections. To be fair, I kind of stumbled upon it. It was in a cardboard display hanging at the end of a random aisle outside the beauty section. These are worth the hunt though!

I used the entire Pure Ice St. Patrick's Day collection: Charmed I'm Sure, Be My Clover, White On Time, and Irish I Was Orange. These adorable rings from Walmart made for a perfect match.

These nails are Irish all the way. Sometimes I think of what I want to do in advance, but with these I wasn't sure. My mom really likes the group Celtic Thunder. I remember watching their first show with her back in the day. She was in the hospital a few years ago and when she got out and was recovering she rediscovered them and since then she's gotten me into watching them too. At the end of their newest show they did "Ireland's Call" and when I saw the flag behind them, I got my inspiration. I mean this collection kind of calls for it, right?

It's always funny to me when I do something simple and spontaneous and I end up loving it.

Hope everyone has a good one today!

St. Patrick's Day Nails Throwback

When it comes to holiday nails, sometimes I don't post them until a whole year later. Why? I do them on the day of the actual holiday and then it's too late to post. By then everyone's sick of it. Although I know a few people who probably could never get sick of green beer!

So here's my 2015 St. Patrick's Day nails. I think I've used these same polishes for every St. Patrick's Day since I've been into nail polish.

I used Call You Later, Happy Ending, and Irish Green all by Sinful Colors. The metallic green shamrocks and dots are a green Snowman Polish.

Spoiler alert: I've done my nails already for this year and I actually used different colors besides green and different polishes. Stay tuned...

Grey Half Moons

I don't really know what to call these. Heck I don't really know when I did these. I've had them on my phone since last year and posted them on Instagram a few weeks ago.

This is an unnamed grey Love & Beauty polish from Forever 21 with Wet N' Wild - Black Creme dry brushed over it. I love dry brushing almost as much as I love these hues.

#GoRed Nails For #NationalWearRedDay 2016

I don't always post nails for each holiday or special day, but this is one I've been doing since last year (you can check that out here).

I just think this is such an important cause and awareness is everything. You hear a lot about other diseases but this is one that can sneak up without any symptoms. It may sound cheesy and cliché but knowledge really is power.

I used my favorite red, Salon Perfect - He's With Me on my thumb and for the half moon nails, then Wet N' Wild MegaLast - I Red A Good Book on my middle finger and for the edge on my accent nail. The cheetah spots are Wet N' Wild - Black Creme.

It's probably no surprise that a day to raise awareness of the heart is so close to Valentine's Day, and these nails are perfect for that too!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Here are some Christmas themed nails that I've been rocking while finishing up my Christmas shopping and last minute stuff.

I used:
Wet N' Wild MegaLast - I Red A Good Book
Wet N' Wild Fergie - No Place Like Home
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme
Wet N' Wild - Garnet! My Heel Broke
Wet N' Wild - Naughty and Iced

and I made Hello Kitty decals using the reverse stamping method and a Born Pretty Store plate.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Candy Cane Nails

So here I was, actually planning on doing another nail challenge. During one of the busiest months of the year, too. Isn't that funny?

My challenge of choice was #nailartchallengedec made by @redkoletz and @glamournailart on Instagram.

It started on the 4th day of December with Candy Cane as the theme, so I happily did it and then got happily too busy to continue, ha.

For the candy cane nails I used:

Salon Perfect - He's With Me
Snowman Polish - Green
Kiss White Striper

On my middle fingers I used:

Snowman Polish - Red & Green Glitter

And on the rest of my nails I wanted to try doing a pond mani so I used:

Santee - Peacock Green Glitter
Santee - Fuchsia Glitter
Kiss White Striper with a dotting tool

I used my Sony a5100 for this picture but I gotta admit when it comes to nails, I think I prefer my iPhone 6. I need to get more practice using it and then maybe I'll like it better but so far the iPhone is easier to hold and focuses on more. It's gotta be all in the settings.

Holiday Mash Up Nails

Hey dolls! I finally got around to doing my nails again and tried out a couple new products.

I used this gorgeous glittery pink Snowman polish in Strawberry. It does actually have a sweet strawberry scent that lingers. It reminds me to strawberry Pop Rocks. The ice cream cone bottle is really cute too.

For my accent nail I used Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme mixed with clear polish to sheer it out, with a pink skull glitter from the blue and pink skull nail deco Pumpkin Polish.

I was so excited to try these out. I broke two nails not long before Halloween and by the time everything healed and grew out Halloween was over. I got the Snowman polish before Christmas and even posted about it on Instagram:

But pink isn't a super Christmas-y color and I ended up pulling out my favorite reds and greens instead. I gave the other 3 bottles to my cousin who I always post about here and her two sisters and I'm wondering what those scents are like.

You can also spy on my ring finger a silver metallic Shimmer tattoo. It was my first time trying that out too and I liked it except it peeled off fast thanks to a lot of hand washing.

This pink is really perfect for Valentine's Day. So we got Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day here. Three holidays in one set of nails? I'm calling it a holiday mash-up.

#GoRed Nails For #NationalWearRedDay

Since Friday was National Wear Red Day, I posted this up on Instagram to show support and raise awareness for heart disease in women.

I used Wet N' Wild Mega Last - I Red A Good Book along with hole reinforcement stickers.

You can also check out one of my newest beauty favorites, L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint in Pin Up. I didn't buy it just for the name but I do love it!

Christmas Skittles

Hey dolls! I spent most of November with plain nails while they grew out and they're finally at a point where I feel like doing nail art again. Of course with Christmas so close, now I don't really have time for it.

I decided to do Christmas themed skittles. I like skittles. I pick a color or design, then do one nail on each hand with it, and before I know it, everything's painted.

I used some perfect Christmas polishes for this. My favorite, Salon Perfect - He's With Me for the red, Snowman Polish in Green and Red & Green glitter, Sinful Colors - Snow Me White, and Salon Perfect - Glow Pink as a base under my glitter.

Have you guys done any Christmas nail art so far?

Candy Apple Nails

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Today's nails are a treat I had in the vault from before my break. Here's some Fall appropriate nails that were unplanned and totally a spur of the moment design.

I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Cinna-Snap and then picked up one of my Fall favorites, Sally Hansen - Pumpkin Spice and painted on some drips.

I didn't realize it until I was done, but these nails remind me to another Fall favorite: candy apples. Pumpkin spice and candy apples sound real good right about now, don't you think?

#TBT - Fall Inspired Gradient

Here's a lil something new here: a #ThrowbackThursday post.

I did these nails on October 7, 2013. At least that's what the date says on the picture file.

I think at the time I was using Pink Armor as a base coat. Then I used Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Sunny Side Up for the orange and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Pumpkin Spice over that.

Posting a right hand pic just so you can see Pumpkin Spice in the shade. It's gorgeous and I keep reaching for it every Fall.

I haven't done much nail art at all since I broke two nails last month. Hopefully by Thanksgiving they'll grow out enough that I can enjoy doing it again. Till next time.

Happy Halloween 2014

Happy Halloween guys!

Today I've got some Halloween inspired nails. They're not super Halloween themed like the ones I did last year but more like regular nails with a spooky twist.

Here's my right hand, that hasn't been seen much on the blog lately.

I used Hot Topic - Matte Black and Wet N' Wild Fergie - No Place Like Home on the black & glitter nails, Wet N' Wild Mega Last - I Red A Good Book and a Kiss nail art striper in black on the plaid nails, the same matte black and KleanColor - Americano on the stud nails, and matte black for my black cats along with Sinful Colors - Snow Me White and a glow in the dark Pumpkin Polish in yellow for the eyes.

If some of these nails look familiar to you, it's because I redid the plaid design that I did here for Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern during the 31 Day Challenge. I wore the leggings that I used for my inspiration. Want to see how the outfit turned out?

You can probably spy my new iPhone. Yup, after being SO excited that I did Apple nails on September 9th when it was announced, I finally got one. These are some of the first pictures that I took with it and so far I'm really loving the camera.

These are the only Halloween nails that I'm doing this year. I ended up breaking two nails trying to open a box. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted to enter a gross nails contest for Halloween but after having actual bloody nails and having to cut them all down, I'm cool with it, haha.

Hope you all have an awesome Halloween!

Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hey guys! It's been awhile. I've been detoxing from the polish fumes after the 31 Day Challenge!

I'm back with pink nails for October's Breast Cancer Awareness month. My family, like so many others, has been affected by this disease, so I thought it was time for me to post my first pink nails.

I used Wet N' Wild Mega Last - Candy-licious and then did different designs using Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Tickled Pink.

This is a lovely color combo and represents a good cause. What's your favorite pink of all time?

#31DC2014 Roundup

WE DID IT! The 31 Day challenge is officially over. Congratulations to everyone who finished it!

I've gathered up a roundup of all 31 days, check them out after the jump, along with a few words on my first time doing the challenge.

#31DC2014 - Day 31: Honor Nails You Love

Is it really the last day of the challenge? Has this flown by for anyone else while simultaneously seeming like it would never end? Is this too many questions to start a post with?

For today, I was inspired by a picture I've seen around Instagram for a Cirque Colors contest.

I really loved these nails and they're similar to the shape of mine, so I decided to recreate them using colors that were as close as I could get.

I started by painting my nails with Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme then taped off with striping tape and did the inside part in Sinful Colors - Happy Ending to create the black outline. I topped that off with Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Plume to give it a more duochrome shiny look. I peeled off my tape and topped it off with topcoat.

I did these while watching Pawn Stars and I must've watched at least 3 episodes. By the time I finished it was after 3am, and I was pretty tired, so I decided to leave them as is.

I think these have an antique look to them, but that really might be the Pawn Stars talking. Maybe I should go call a buddy of mine to check them out. ;)

#31DC2014 - Day 30: Inspired By A Tutorial

I can't believe we've reached the second to the last day of the challenge! Today's nails I did using a tutorial posted by Chelsea Queen here. I found it when I saw Chalkboard Nails' Day 14 Floral Print nails.

I used the same amount of polishes that Chelsea used in her video, just different brands. I started with a base of Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme and then for the flowers I used Wet N' Wild Mega Last - Candy-licious and Sinful Colors - Snow Me White. I blended those to get a light pink to highlight with. For the leaves I used Sinful Colors - Happy Ending mixed with white and then on it's own to highlight.

I really love these. I think floral nails are amazing because they look like fabric prints and look so complicated but really aren't hard at all, especially when following this tutorial.

#31DC2014 - Day 29: Inspired By The Supernatural

Guys, I've got a confession to make: I didn't paint these today. Nope. I actually painted these last year for Halloween 2013. I never posted them, they totally fit with today's theme and it's finally close enough to Halloween for me to post them, so here they are.

I got the idea for these because my cousin texted me a bunch of inspiration pics that she found. Little did she know that I'd end up not doing just one design, but every one! I added a few of my own too.

I won't list what polishes I used because I used way too many.

I told you that Jack Skellington would make an appearance sooner or later!

These are getting me into the Halloween mood even more. I don't have a cute pic to go along with these, so here's my newest freestyle that I just posted on my youtube. I used the beat to Eminem & Rihanna's "The Monster" so it goes along with these nails perfectly.

Been an admirer of Karloff & Lugosi
It isn't really that far off if you know me
And monsters make better company than the ones I meet
Approach these crowds a bit uncomfortably
You couldn't stop & refrain from mocking us as insane
When you're the one getting laughed at, at Mockingbird Lane
What's with the cocky wordplay?
I enrolled in Monster High, now I eat off the popular plate

#31DC2014 - Day 28: Inspired By A Flag

I've probably mentioned before on here that I'm mixed Dutch-Indonesian and French. I've even written a rap dedicated to Indo food. But today I'm bringing you nails inspired by the country I was born in, the American flag.

The blue is Revlon - Royal layered over a base of Sinful Colors - Snow Me White, which I used for my white stripes along with Wet N' Wild Mega Last - I Red A Good Book.

I wore these with a vintage looking red. white, and blue dress and did faux victory rolls, so I decided to throw in a nautical twist and did gold anchors using Kleancolor - Americano.

I love the classic look of cat eyes and red lipstick.

I also love the pinup style and I'm totally inspired by it. I think it tied in with the theme well.

#31DC2014 - Day 27: Inspired By Artwork

For today's nails, I knew what I was going to do the second that I saw a fan brush in a Fing'rs Heart 2 Art kit: Bob Ross inspired nails!

For those who don't know, Bob Ross' show "The Joy Of Painting" airs on PBS, and I've been watching it with some of my relatives for years. He always paints pine trees with a fan brush, so I decided that after years of watching, I'd try it out myself.

I think I pulled it off! Nails are quite a bit smaller than a canvas, so I couldn't do an entire scene. I started off with two coats of Kleancolor - Pastel Blue, then I sponged on Sinful Colors - Snow Me White to create some happy little clouds. I used a striper brush with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Espresso to create the tree trunks and then using the fan brush I applied Love & Beauty - Teal to create the trees. I used a Snowman Polish in green and Sinful Colors - Happy Ending to highlight the trees.

Here are my nails with a picture of Bob Ross painting his famous happy little trees. I love how he makes art easy to do for anyone.

I have to say doing these were pretty relaxing, and I'm happy with how they turned out. So if you're feeling a little stressed, don't worry, the challenge is almost over, and take this advice:

#31DC2014 - Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern

Today I've got more fashion inspired nails for you. These are inspired by the plaid pattern on a pair of leggings that I have.

I used Wet N' Wild Mega Last - I Red A Good Book and a Kiss Nail Art Striper in Black.

Here's a picture of the nails with the leggings.

I've been wanting to try plaid nails for awhile now. They're simple to do but the overall look is awesome.
