#31DC2014 - Day 8: Metallic Nails

For today's nails I busted out one of my absolute favorite metallic polishes.

It's China Glaze - Millenium, and it's one of the first China Glaze polishes that I ever bought.

It has that foil finish to it that a lot of other metallic polishes don't have. It's not just super shimmery with a faux effect, it really looks smooth. When I first got it, it reminded me to the Minx nails that so many celebs were doing at the time.

For the art, I drew a little robot with a black Kiss nail art striper and drew a heart with Wet N' Wild Chrome - Precious Petals. On my accent nails I tried out Pretty Woman's HoloGraphic Nail Art foil kit that I just got. It's my first time trying out foils. Anybody got any tips?

When I think of metallic, I think of robots, so I grabbed this cute necklace that I got from Forever 21.

Robots are cute but robots and hearts and bows and tutus? Cuteness overload.

#31DC2014 - Day 7: B&W Nails

For today's nails I decided to do dalmatian spots. I guess this could count as animal print too, but dalmatians seem to get overshadowed by cheetahs and zebras.

I did a paw print on my accent nail. Look, I even have a rare right hand picture. I used my standard black & white for this, Sinful Colors - Snow Me White and Wet N' Wild - Black Creme.

These totally reminded me to 101 Dalmatians, and as much as I'd love to have a real one to take a picture with, this will just have to do.

The first week of the challenge is already done, can you believe it?

#31DC2014 - Day 6: Violet Nails

Welcome to Day 6: Violet. Here's the deal: I don't really own any violet polishes. I didn't have much to work with when it came to yellow either. I remember doing some Lakers nails back in the day and to be honest I don't know what the heck I used.

I decided to use Revlon - Facets Of Fuchsia over Wet N' Wild - Black Creme because I remember layering this and getting a really pretty dark purple. You can see pics of when I first posted it here.

I didn't want to do the exact same nails so I tried doing a different technique for gradient tips, using clear polish and mixing it with the black while it was still wet. For some reason I ended up with little swirls of black that looked like smoke. I've never had that happen before and I'm guessing it was because I used quick dry topcoat instead of regular. Either way, I liked the effect so I went with it.

In the light, you can see the purple glitter pop. Outside the light, this looked really dark. I like the vampy look of these for Halloween, and the dark purple is perfect for Fall.

I ended up happy. And on the bright side, the issue I had with Facets Of Fuchsia not covering my tips when I first used it seemed to not be a problem.

What do you think of when you think of purple? Grapes of course! It's the return of the fruit, although I can't think of any way to keep this going for the black & white and metallic days.

#31DC2014 - Day 5: Blue Nails

This challenge is turning out to be a parade of my favorite polishes and since yesterday I've decided to explore more of my glitter collection.

As a result here are today's simple and sweet nails. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Brisk Blue with Pure Ice - Strapless over it.

I've done this combo before and I never get tired of it. Strapless is such a pretty glitter.

What else can be more blue than a Smurf?

Like my green lipstick, this is another thing that I own and don't use that often. It's actually a hat with ear flaps and blue braids on each side. Maybe when the weather gets colder I might actually use it. The question is, what goes good with a Smurf?

#31DC2014: Day 4 - Green Nails

So I completely intended on continuing my self-imposed fruit challenge for this day, but I was a bit limited when it came to green. A lime would be too close to an orange if I painted a slice and a green apple would just be Day 1's nails but done in green. A not ripe banana would fit but bananas again? Been there done that too.

At one point I actually considered painting a piece of broccoli as an accent nail. I'm part Dutch-Indonesian and my aunt just made us a dish called gado gado that has broccoli in it that I could've used to take a picture with. I mean veggies are close to fruit.

I ended up just using one of my favorite greens along with glitter.

This is Sinful Colors - Happy Ending and the glitter is Sinful Colors - I'll Call You.

Yes that is green lipstick. I am probably the only person I know who owns green lipstick and I've never found a use for it until today. So I had to bust it out.

#31DC2014 - Day 3: Yellow Nails

For Day 3 can you guess what theme I decided to go with again? Yup, fruit!

I have no idea why, but when I thought of doing a banana, I thought of a banana phone. It might be because my phone autocorrects "bandana" to "banana" which has led to some amusing inside jokes between friends.

I own exactly two yellow polishes: L.A. Girl Disco Brites - Psychedelic, which is what I used for these nails and a yellow L.A. Colors nail art striper. Both have a jelly like consistency and I didn't really want to sit and layer until opaque haha. I went with jelly gradient tips.

I've always wanted to write something across my nails like this, I've seen some really cute ones on Instagram. So I spelled out "ring" with my banana phone cord. The black here is all Wet N' Wild - Black Creme.

Where's the fruit pic you ask? Well we always always always have bananas in the house, except of course for today. Kind of reminds you to that song "Yes We Have No Bananas" doesn't it?

#31DC2014 - Day 2: Orange Nails

So I covered apples on Day 1, and for Day 2 keeping on with a fruit theme seemed like an obvious choice, so oranges it is.

I grabbed another favorite of mine for this, Kleancolor - Metallic Orange. Doesn't this just look like it's glowing? For my orange slice, I used Wet N' Wild - Sunny Side Up and Love & Beauty - Ivory. 

See how Metallic Orange just glows in the sun?

Orange you glad I haven't made an orange joke yet? Day 2 is done with, but the rapper in me is sitting here trying to find every word that rhymes with orange.
