Do You Believe In Magic?

Here's my contest entry for Neverland Nail Blog's Do You Believe In Magic? Nail Art Contest.

I did my base with a blue franken and added Sally Hansen - Glass Slipper (perfect name for a magic mani right?) and then Wet N' Wild - Bow In My Presence on the tips. It looked so pretty, like I had dipped my nails in fairy dust. I didn't really want to cover it up with a lot of art, so I did a magic wand on my thumbs and had sparks flying from it, forming a heart on my ring fingers.

Really, I'm not out to try to win this contest. I'm only out to try to be the last person entering haha. It's after 11pm, think I got a good chance to do it?

I used:
a blue franken
Sally Hansen - Glass Slipper
Wet N' Wild - Bow In My Presence
Revlon - Espresso (magic wand stick)
Wet N' Wild - Precious Petals (the stars and sparks)

I hope you like it!

Stamping With Wet N Wild - Precious Petals

Hey guys! Long time no nail post. My left hand took a beating after those Easter nails. First I broke the corner off my thumb nail putting groceries on the belt during check out. Then I got a split in the middle finger nail and had to cut it down. THEN I cut my pointer finger while cooking. Ow!

Anyways, I stumbled upon this display at Rite Aid the other day:

I snapped this pic up with some Nouveau Cheap level drugstore hunting skills! I prided myself at taking a pic in the store. Do you guys ever feel awkward doing that, or am I the only one?
See how there's 1 bottle missing in the 3rd column of pinks? That's because I snatched it up! It's called Precious Petals and it is a gorgeous pink chrome.

I haven't done any nail art lately. My Easter nails chipped within a week, with the exception of the bunny on my left thumb. That bunny is still there. So I took everything off but the bunny and painted my nails using the base color on my thumb: Wet N' Wild - I Need A Refresh-Mint. I might do a seperate post on that because I LOVE it! It's my favorite shade for Spring.

I wanted to try out Precious Petals to see if it would work for stamping. It took a few tries, but it worked!

Please excuse these pictures. I had to use flash to get Precious Petals to really show it's shine. I Need A Refresh-Mint looks more blue here than it really is, but the stamps are accurate.

Have any of you purchased any of these new Wet N' Wild Chromes and tried stamping? It would be nice if they weren't limited edition!

Target $1 Section Gift Wrap Swag

The Target $1 section is kind of a wonderful place. I've found many cute things in there and I love the scented lip balms they have for every holiday. I spotted these pink felt placemats sitting there and had an idea. I could use them, get my HELLO SANDWICH on, and make a cute wrapping that was both cheap and re-usable. For once, I could give someone a present that actually looked like EFFORT was put into it, instead of my usual "bags & tissue paper are amazing" stance.

This was a belated birthday gift for my aunt. As you can see, I've got a pretty bag, a card, a loofa sponge thing that looks like a flower, The Band Perry CD, and two pink felt cutout placemats. Behind the placemats are some wrapped up decorations from my Grandma's house that I gave back to my aunt. ALL of this, except for my Grandma's decorations, the CD, and the card, came from the $1 section. The card probably cost more than the bag, flower, and placemats put together!

Not pictured are silver holographic ribbon and tissue paper.

So how'd I do it? Easy! I took the two placemats, placed them end to end and used the ribbon to weave in and out of the cutouts. I then tied the ribbon together and since it still seperated a lot, I tied more ribbon horizontally across the woven parts.
I SHOULD'VE taken pictures while I was doing it, but as usual, I was running late and did this at the last minute before getting ready. I did a quick diagram in Photoshop. Obviously when I did this, I pulled on the ribbon to make it as tight as possible.

Then I placed the CD on the bottom, put the wrapped decorations on top, pulled the placemats up and used the loop of the loofa flower to hold it together.
The loofa flower reminded me a lot to the fancy package decorations you can get in the gift wrap aisle. Except those are usually several dollars. This was $1 and if my aunt wants, she can reuse it.

I put the entire thing in the bag and called it a day. My aunt loved it! She's already hung her decorations up and she says The Band Perry CD is really good. I might have to check it out. They're no Slaughterhouse, but then again, who is? <3
I had fun putting this together and I might do creative things like this more often.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

Hey guys! I mentioned in my Spring Watercolors post that I hadn't decided if I was gonna go all out on Easter nails or what. Well, I TOTALLY did. These took several hours, doing a lil at a time and letting the polish dry. Once again I used only the brushes on the polish and I busted out a trusty toothpick. Here they are, it's not like I'm posting them a week after Easter or anything, right? ;)

I won't list what polishes I used because there were so many. I probably used Wet N' Wild polishes the most. If you'd like to know anything in particular, feel free to leave a comment or contact me. I updated my blog to include links to all the social networks I'm on, and you can now subscribe via email to my feed.

I won't make a seperate outfit & makeup post because I did kinda neutral makeup and didn't get as many cool or interesting shots. Here's a few that made the cut. My cousin took these in my aunt's living room, while the entire family was sitting around talking. So I felt super awkward posing in front of them lol.

Yea couldn't really go all VOGUE!!!! JAZZ HANDS!!!! in front of the aunts and uncles haha.

Make sure to subscribe, I'm trying to provide as many ways as possible for people to get content. Good stuff coming up this week, including my first post on getting creative with wrapping a gift (on the cheap too), and a post on the awesome Born Pretty Store. Stay tuned!

Tonight We Are Young Part 2

My cousin and I turned our other cousin's room into our own lash bar before we performed together. My cousin is, as she puts it, "not a girl" ! She's never worn fake lashes before, and as for me, well I've only ever worn crazy Halloween ones. She's interested in them so I picked some up for us. This was the first time I've ever applied a pair on anyone. It was fun! The majority of my friends have always been guys, so we don't spend a lot of time applying lashes on each other haha.
We're not experts and well, we probably shouldn't have taken pics at the end of the night, after waiting to eat till after we performed and then jumping on the leftovers!

So here's my cousin. She did her makeup with an e.l.f. palette and her lashes are Revlon Beyond Natural - Double Wink. She wanted crazy ones and these were the craziest they had at the store. I think they look like feather lashes. Or something Katy Perry would wear.

As for me, I went with something toned down.

Eyes:
M.A.C - Retrospeck eyeshadow (as a wash over the lid and under the brows)
Wet N' Wild Vanity palette (the gold and some of the brown, in crease)
M.A.C - Blacktrack Fluidline
Wet N' Wild Mega Lash Clinical Mascara - Very Black
Revlon Fantasy Lengths - Flirty

Lips:
Wet N' Wild Silk Finish Lipstick - 516C Sunset Peach
M.A.C - Girl About Town
Love And Beauty Lipgloss - Cherry

Something about that pic reminded us to Nicki Minaj. We don't know why either. We had video of our performance but it turned out too dark, which is too bad, because we definitely rocked it like true Barbz that night!

& just because no post is complete without an action pic:

Tonight We Are Young Part 1

Hello there. Remember I was gonna do an outfit and makeup post along with those Spring Watercolor nails? Here it is! I had some kind of cold or flu thing this week and felt crappy the entire week. So my blog folder sat there, pictures halfway ready to upload, waiting for me to come back.

I really liked these pics. I really liked everything that evening. From my curls to the rap I did at the party, everything turned out well.

I'm splitting this up into two posts because, well it's a bit long. So stay tuned, I'm going to be posting the makeup that my cousin and I wore that evening.

Spring Watercolors

Hey loves! I did my nails for a party. I decided I wanted to try out the watercolor technique. I like to match my nails somewhat to whatever I'm wearing so I used a base color of Wet N Wild - Sugar Coat and picked my watercolor colors to match some of the floral pattern in my dress. I think these ended up almost looking like a floral pattern themselves, don't you think?

Interested in the watercolor technique? It's SUPER easy.
1. ) Paint your base color, then paint over that with a thick coat of clear topcoat. This is to protect the base from the acetone you'll be using to create the watercolor look.
2.) Next pick your watercolor polish colors. Dot your first color on in a few spots, dip a brush in acetone nail polish remover and tap the dots of color to thin them out and swirl them around. You don't have to wait for the polish to dry before you begin swirling.
3.) When you're satisfied, do your next color. Don't swirl the second color too much, you don't want to cover up the first too much! Continue on with as many colors as you like!

I really loved these nails so you guys get picspam. I took a lot of pics with my dress fabric, with both flash on and off, and some in sunlight. Night parties don't offer good outdoor lighting for pictures. :)

I used:
Wet N' Wild - Sugar Coat
Love & Beauty - Bubblegum
Sinful Colors - Irish Green
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Clearly Quick

I hope you guys are all having a great holiday weekend so far! I've got an outfit & FOTD post from that night coming up & of course EASTER nails. I still haven't decided if I'm going to go all out and paint Easter designs or what.
