Happy Halloween 2014

Happy Halloween guys!

Today I've got some Halloween inspired nails. They're not super Halloween themed like the ones I did last year but more like regular nails with a spooky twist.

Here's my right hand, that hasn't been seen much on the blog lately.

I used Hot Topic - Matte Black and Wet N' Wild Fergie - No Place Like Home on the black & glitter nails, Wet N' Wild Mega Last - I Red A Good Book and a Kiss nail art striper in black on the plaid nails, the same matte black and KleanColor - Americano on the stud nails, and matte black for my black cats along with Sinful Colors - Snow Me White and a glow in the dark Pumpkin Polish in yellow for the eyes.

If some of these nails look familiar to you, it's because I redid the plaid design that I did here for Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern during the 31 Day Challenge. I wore the leggings that I used for my inspiration. Want to see how the outfit turned out?

You can probably spy my new iPhone. Yup, after being SO excited that I did Apple nails on September 9th when it was announced, I finally got one. These are some of the first pictures that I took with it and so far I'm really loving the camera.

These are the only Halloween nails that I'm doing this year. I ended up breaking two nails trying to open a box. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted to enter a gross nails contest for Halloween but after having actual bloody nails and having to cut them all down, I'm cool with it, haha.

Hope you all have an awesome Halloween!

#31DC2014 - Day 27: Inspired By Artwork

For today's nails, I knew what I was going to do the second that I saw a fan brush in a Fing'rs Heart 2 Art kit: Bob Ross inspired nails!

For those who don't know, Bob Ross' show "The Joy Of Painting" airs on PBS, and I've been watching it with some of my relatives for years. He always paints pine trees with a fan brush, so I decided that after years of watching, I'd try it out myself.

I think I pulled it off! Nails are quite a bit smaller than a canvas, so I couldn't do an entire scene. I started off with two coats of Kleancolor - Pastel Blue, then I sponged on Sinful Colors - Snow Me White to create some happy little clouds. I used a striper brush with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Espresso to create the tree trunks and then using the fan brush I applied Love & Beauty - Teal to create the trees. I used a Snowman Polish in green and Sinful Colors - Happy Ending to highlight the trees.

Here are my nails with a picture of Bob Ross painting his famous happy little trees. I love how he makes art easy to do for anyone.

I have to say doing these were pretty relaxing, and I'm happy with how they turned out. So if you're feeling a little stressed, don't worry, the challenge is almost over, and take this advice:

#31DC2014 - Day 23: Inspired By A Movie

I totally stumbled upon these nails, which are inspired by the movie Frozen!

I probably wouldn't have picked Frozen at first, but after looking at this color combo and picturing dots that look like falling snow, it fits.

I used Chameleon - Blue Frost as a base. Perfect name for Frozen nails, right? Then I lightly applied Sinful Colors - Cinderella and dabbed at it with a sponge to blend. I finished it off by dotting on Kleancolor - Pastel Blue and Sinful Colors - Gorgeous.

Of course I had to go find my good friend Olaf and he photobombed me while taking pics. :)

I think these nails are worthy of Princess Elsa, and I could see her rocking these to match her dress.

#31DC2014 - Day 20: Water Marble

Ahh water marble. Each year I've watched other bloggers do the challenge, I think this day is one of the ones everyone hates the most.

I've always had pretty good results with water marbling. Of course, I happened to grab polishes that worked great with it. Today was an experiment in itself.

I was inspired by a necklace, so I used China Glaze - Millenium, Kleancolor - Americano, Revlon - Espresso, and Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme to match it. Yes, I do realize that sounds partly like a Starbucks menu. :)

Here's the necklace that I was inspired by. The necklace looks like it's water marbled.

All in all, I was satisfied with these nails.

The first two sets of prompts are done, one more set to go!

#31DC2014 - Day 13: Animal Print

Oh animal print. When I first got into nail art all I wanted to be able to do was cheetah and zebra print. When I ordered my first Konad supplies, I had to include plate m57 just for the animal print.

For these nails, I decided to try out drawing zebra print. I used Love & Beauty - Ivory for the base, Kleancolor - Metallic Orange for the gradient, and a Kiss nail art striper in black for the stripes. These came out looking like tiger print.

All animal print everything. I told you I love animal print. <3

#31DC2014 - Day 10: Gradient Nails

Today's nails are the first time I'm trying out a cotton candy gradient. These came out so cute and kawaii, they remind me to My Little Pony.

I used Love & Beauty - Ivory as a base, then did the gradient with Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Tickled Pink and Kleancolor - Pastel Blue. I topped it all off with Santee - Moon Light Glitter and placed a few stars from it on my pointer and ring fingers.

Of course this made me crave actual cotton candy.

Look at how delicious it looks, I wanna grab it right out of my laptop monitor. Now I need to go find some.

#31DC2014 - Day 2: Orange Nails

So I covered apples on Day 1, and for Day 2 keeping on with a fruit theme seemed like an obvious choice, so oranges it is.

I grabbed another favorite of mine for this, Kleancolor - Metallic Orange. Doesn't this just look like it's glowing? For my orange slice, I used Wet N' Wild - Sunny Side Up and Love & Beauty - Ivory
See how Metallic Orange just glows in the sun?

Orange you glad I haven't made an orange joke yet? Day 2 is done with, but the rapper in me is sitting here trying to find every word that rhymes with orange.

#OOTD Roundup

Hey dolls! I've been busy lately and haven't really done any hardcore nail art, but I've been posting a couple OOTD posts on Instagram and thought I'd share them here. There's some simple nail art involved.

First off is my most recent one, a 4th of July look.

I did these nails using Wet N' Wild - I Red A Good Book and then did some vintage inspired half moons and tips using hole reinforcement stickers and Salon Perfect - He's With Me. I've got some swatches of this to post, it's become one of my favorites in my collection.

Of course no holiday collage of a family get together is complete without one of my aunt's cakes. This was Duff Goldman's zebra cake mix and it was REALLY good haha. The zebra print inside was totally cute too.

Next up was an outfit I wore to go to family dinner at The Elephant Bar. I got this Batman crop top at Fashion Q and I'm SO in love with it. You can't really tell in the pictures but the Bat symbol is blinged out and it's just so cute and different compared to your typical Batman tee. The shoes were another Fashion Q find and I'm equally in love with them.

Of course I can't wear this Batman top without pairing it with some bat rings and a cat charm bracelet that I got from Forever 21's Bats And Cats collection that came out last year. To say that this collection was up my alley is probably an understatement. ;)

I've got on Wet N' Wild - Black Creme and Kleancolor - Americano on my accent nail.

Finally here's an old one from last Fall. It's been warm out here in Cali. Heck, it's been warm almost all year. It was in the 80's on Christmas last year and there's been 90+ temps off and on throughout the whole rest of winter and spring. I've been dreaming of Fall.

Here's a non-Instagram one, galaxy-free :)

I got the shirt, belt, and shoes at Fashion Q. The headband and tights at Forever 21. The skirt is from Love Culture.

That's what I've been up to lately. I'm having fun doing more OOTD type posts. Follow me on Instagram for more @MissDeViousDiVa.

Let's Do The Time Warp Challenge - Day 1

Hey guys! I'm excited to announce that I'm doing the Let's Do The Time Warp Challenge over at Neverland Nail blog. I'm SO excited about this challenge because I love vintage.

Today is Day 1: I should have been born in... and I've got some groovy 70's nail art to show.

Now I should include some sort of explanation for why I chose the 70's, right? Three reasons:
1.) I love the 20's, 30's, and 40's and I didn't want everyday of the challenge to be about them so I chose something different!
2.) Most of my favorite rappers were born in the 70's.
3.) The patterns man, the patterns!

These nails were inspired by tie dye, flower power, lava lamps, and leather fringe vests, and I wanted each to look like some crazy pattern that would fit in as the backdrop on That 70's Show (remember the lil transitions with the characters dancing or swinging or whatever?)

I used:
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - French White Creme (base on every nail)
Sinful Colors - Ruby Ruby
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Sunny Side Up
L.A. Girl  Disco Brites - Psychedelic
Sinful Colors - Irish Green
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Brisk Blue
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Tickled Pink
Kleancolor - Pastel Blue
Wet N' Wild Spoiled - Show Me Some Skin
Revlon - Espresso

That's all! I'll be back later this week with Day 2!

Far Out Galaxy Nails

Ready for some really cool nails? I dunno what made me do galaxy nails, I've never done them and decided to try. For some reason I always thought these were really complicated and took a lot of time to do. Dude, totally the opposite.

I followed THIS post by Rebecca. I think anytime I link to a tutorial on here, it's been by Rebecca, but I love her blog and her tutorials are easy to follow. Funny thing is, it's not even a tutorial, but she did post step-by-step pictures.

I only had a few of the polishes she used, so I used substitutions and made a few changes to them too. I shoulda watched the video she linked to, but guess what? Yea, it was late and I was going somewhere the next day. Story of my blog right?

These are easy to do but use a lottttt of polishes. I used:
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - Black Creme
Wet N' Wild Wild Shine - French White Creme
Wet N' Wild Chrome - Precious Petals
Hard Candy - Beetle
Klean Color - Pastel Blue
Santee - Opal Speckle
Klean Color - Chunky Holo Fuschia
Sally Hansen - Hidden Treasure

Bonus outfit pic time:
If my dear cousin Becca is reading this, I only have two words for you: SPICY LIME! :p
Good pizza spot + family time + actin a fool at Walmart with the cousin = a good day indeed.

KleanColor - Pastel Blue

Here's a quick swatch of KleanColor - Pastel Blue. The store I always get my Santee polishes from cleared them out and replaced them with KleanColor. I haven't found the metallic ones yet but I'm lovin this pastel color enough to wanna pick up some other colors.

I didn't do any art on this cause I took it off pretty quickly to do some outfit-inspired nails for a day at the movies with my cousin. Can you guess what we went to go see?

The answer to that and more in the next episode of Miss DeVious DiVa! :D
